What Are Exosomes in Skincare? An Esthetician Explains

"Exosomes" is one of the most searched skincare words right now, and clients ask me about them every week. Here's a plain-language explanation of what they are, and how I use them at home and in the treatment room.

What exosomes are

Exosomes are tiny particles your cells release to send signals to other cells. In skincare, they're used to deliver signals that support the skin's own renewal, like collagen and repair.

It's a newer area of skincare, and research is still growing. I recommend them as an upgrade for people who already have a solid routine, not as a replacement for the basics like sunscreen and a retinoid.

How Plated Skin Science is different

Plated uses what it calls Renewosome technology, exosomes derived from platelets. Their serums pair these with antioxidants for skin that looks smoother, firmer and more even. I carry Plated because of how well my clients' skin responds to it, especially after treatments.

Which Plated product to choose

Plated Daily: for everyday renewal. A daily serum for anyone starting with exosomes or maintaining results. It layers easily under moisturizer and sunscreen.

Plated Intense: for maximum results. Plated's most concentrated face serum, for more visible signs of aging or for boosting results during a treatment series.

Plated HAIR Serum: for thinning hair. The same exosome technology for the scalp, to help hair look fuller and thicker and reduce the look of shedding.

Exosomes in my treatments

You can also add exosomes to a microneedling or plasma therapy session at my Henderson studio. Applying them right after treatment helps calm skin and supports healing. Using Plated at home between sessions keeps that momentum going.

Is it right for you?

Exosomes are a good fit if you're focused on anti-aging, recovering from treatments, or want more from a routine that's already working. Book a consultation and I'll tell you honestly whether they'll make a difference for your skin.
